Matt VandeBerg should hire Sharpton the way he's being treated. He's tall, fast and if he were black we would be thrilled about his contributions as a true soph and excited about his upside.

I'd probably say not short and not slow. Tall and fast stretch it, imo. He's also never going to be strong.

Riley McCarron and Andrew Stone will both have taken significant snaps by the end of next year. There is less than 5% of Power 5 schools that this would happen at.

The play that summarizes the season was a game where Iowa was within the 10 yard line of the opponent and McCarron was the lone receiver.

I thought that McCarron was a Senior, but noticed he will only be a Junior next year. Iowa is going to give significant snaps to Vandeberg, McCarron and Stone next year.

What other BCS programs have this many white WR's getting snaps, especially when 2 of them are fucking walk-ons and the third guy was nearly a walk-on?

Like I have said before I don't care if our players are arctic albino white as long as they are athletic enough to be on a power 5 football field in their position. Unfortunately it appears we are about 4 years past having those type of players and now we are fielding talent that would make a MAC coach cringe.

Less, McCarron is the worst player to play a snap at Iowa last year.

In almost 2 years of meaningful playing time:
  • 3 catches, 11 yards
  • 11 punt returns, 21 yards
  • 1 KO return, 36 yards

He was the lone receiver a fuckload of times this season. And threw it deep to him. Those stand out to me more than that. Either way, not good.

Doubt that McCarron will get significant snaps. I'd have preferred Stone to KMM and Hillyer much of the time. (Sometimes a stronger or taller guy is needed.)

Too bad about Vande's drop against ISU. He did what a million receivers have done- tried to take off without the ball. Nothing like the bad hands of Shumpert.

My recollection was vandy was lone wide and targeted deep far more often than Riley

Carl Jackson took over for Snyder. Don Patterson was after that.

Donny Patterson was fucking hated, BTW. Maybe not Greg Davis hated, but it was up there.

Whatever is correct. Carl was oc, then later left to coach for the 49ers and later returned as rb coach

That actually says '79-91. Not.

The deal was that they called Carl the run game coordinator and Patterson the passing game coordinator. Then Carl left and Patterson was the sole. Snyder does much the same with Dana Dimel and Del Miller.

Not sure what the OC did at Iowa during Hayden's years, he called all the plays.

I'd pay $1,000 to get a headset and listen to Kirk Ferentz call every play of one game.
