I think that's called a shart. And they "not completely evacuated". Why did they partially evacuate?
One tried to during a football game in November of 2005Be kind of ironic if a tornado took out the “Cyclone” fans.
Stirtz wouldn't even crack the ISU starting lineup.
In 1978 Iowa State beat Iowa 31-0. I was sitting at a stop light with my dad in his 1972 piss yellow maverick. Guys jumped out of a black van with greek letters hand painted on the side (badly I might add) and one of them punched me through the window. I was 12 years old- F*** Iowa
They are the joke of the Big 10. Until Nebrantska came along they were the weakest academic institution. Within the Big 10 they have very little respect, and they know it. So what does anyone in that situation do? Like any good insecure bully, they profess their superiority against a perceived weaker opponent. For many years ISU fit that bill. But that's been slowly eroding. So what do they do in response? They double down because that's all the bully has left. That's where we are at,
The number of anonymous burner accounts that fan base has is weird.
It's also the luck they get too. We've had a couple serious Final Four contender teams the last 12 years. All of them had some sort of injury right at or during the tourney to throw a wrench at ISU. Also, wasn't there that stretch where ISU lost to the eventual champion a few years in a row? Iowa finally gets to day 2 and meets probably one of the worst #1 seeds I can ever remember.
My dad was an ISU grad (and he taught me well)... I still do this to this day.... When he would walk into a store and see a Hok shirt on a rack, he would turn it around so only the back of the shirt would be showing. He walked out of a Scheels one day with a whole section of only Black and yellow plain shirts showing after reversing the shirts.
I'll just say it: I selfishly hate that Iowa won yesterday because it basically stole our thunder with local media coverage. We played a great game and the attention was on us. No one expected Iowa to beat Florida and now that they have it's not only a big story because 9 beat 1 seed but because Iowa basketball has sucked for so long that it took McCollum just 1 year to do something no coach has done there since Dr Tom did in 1999.
Waiting to see if/who the local stations send to cover both teams in the Sweet 16 as I know lately seems like the local TV stations can't get approved to send someone to cover things like bowl games or NCAA tournaments. Would piss me off though if they their "B team" to cover use over Iowa even with ISU playing closer in Chicago. We've had the better season and I can only imagine how much some of the local media is going to jerk off to Iowa winning this game now and ISU becomes the lesser talking point.
The other thing I hate, is how they overrate their players. Nate Stanley did not have a long NFL career, this is just one example.
Whenever we travel to both coasts or offshore, we always expect to encounter some sad mid age or older male wearing Hawkeye apparel. Never fails amazingly and it’s always embarrassing when it can be in a nice restaurant or shoreline high dollar establishment. Where everyone else is hatless and is dressed appropriately.
Quite awhile ago I happened to be wearing an Okie St the day after The OHIO State wrestled Iowa. I'm checking out at Theisens and the clerk says "Well, I guess we beat the crap out of you yesterday". I replied "This is OKLAHOMA State". She say "Yeah, OSU". At that point I refused to partake in the stupidity.
Living in Cedar Rapids I've developed a good way to make Hawk fans shut up. Just start asking them specific questions about thier team (any team) like.
Who's is your heaveyweight htis year?
Who's your second string running back?
Who do you play next week?
90% of the time they will scurry back to their hole rather than admit they don't know **** about their team.
Thanks for doing that work. If you want real gems, look inside the NCAA tournament thread where the general consensus was that Sunday was ruined by Iowa winning. Took all the joy of their own Sweet 16 run away.Hadn't visited the cyfan site in quite a while. Took about 15 minutes in a thread about hating Iowa to mine these gems:

All hail!Iowa fans overate
During preseason camp you'd be convinced they had more talent than the '85 Bears. The other thing I hate, is how they overrate their players. Nate Stanley did not have a long NFL career, this is just one example.
I always enjoy the annual Iowa-Iowa State position comparisons where ISU is edge/strong edge better on every unit except OL and Punter. There's a lot of stupid bullshit in there. But I still find this one of the funnier ones.

Randy Evans and the Iowa Freedom of Information Council are the ones onto something. Vanessa Miller is just reporting on what they're doing. Is it that hard to read an article?as much as I despise Vanessa Miller…I think she on to something here lol

Advocates sue Iowa State for details of Dublin football game
The Iowa Freedom of Information Council and its president want to know how much revenue Iowa State University derived from its football game in Ireland in August 2025, along with the full terms of its game contract — and they’re suing to find out.www.thegazette.com
In response to questions from The Gazette, Hunt said “the media value of the Ireland trip for Iowa State was an estimated $189 million” — although she didn’t provide details of direct ISU income.as much as I despise Vanessa Miller…I think she on to something here lol

When the ahtletic department is begging the state for money it would be nice to know if those making that decision are being given gifts to make that happen.Asking for the names of the travel party seems excessive
Not if public officials were gifted free trips, it isn’t.Asking for the names of the travel party seems excessive
It probably actually was by design, but the design was less "keep her out of foul trouble" and more "keep her out of cardiac arrest because she'll have a massive heart attack if you make her run".
she truly is a fat ass bitchIt probably actually was by design, but the design was less "keep her out of foul trouble" and more "keep her out of cardiac arrest because she'll have a massive heart attack if you make her run".
Holy made up bullshit Batman! What an absurd number to attempt to throw out there. In response to questions from The Gazette, Hunt said “the media value of the Ireland trip for Iowa State was an estimated $189 million” — although she didn’t provide details of direct ISU income.

They're going to invest it to upgrade Cytown to Cy City and make endless piles of money that way.How much of that 189 million in value will help cover their budget woes?
