They are going to go from a year with zero expectations to likely being ranked in the pre-season Top 10.

Going to have a very good, possibly great returning team....

QB - Beathard, Weigers
RB - Daniels, Wadley, Mitchell, multiple talented Freshman
WR - Vandeberg, J. Smith, Falconer, McCarron, multiple talented Freshman
TE - Kittle, Outsey, Wisnieski, Vejvoda
OL - Myers, Botteger, Welsh, Daniels, Croston and multiple other talented players

DL - Ott (please!!), Johnson, Hesse, Bazata, Ekakatie, Nelson
LB - Jewell, Nieman, Hockaday, Bower
DB - Mabin, Fleming, Taylor, Gair, Snyder, King (??)

I was hoping that this thread would wait. Kirk typically is not good with a lot of hype.

Welsh coming back, not Walsh. Croston also coming back.

Lomax replacement is a big spot. King's decision is obviously enormous. A whole lot of new, unproven guys at WR and TE but C.J. can make that work.

I mean Welsh, but thought Croston was done. That is awesome as Iowa should have a stud line. Potential to have the following....

LT - Myers
LG - Welsh
C - Daniels
RG - Croston
RT - Boettger

That is a group of ass kickers if they get a good offseason of development in.

Don't count out Aaron Mends at LB. That kid really seems to have a motor.

People are really high on Kulick at FB apparently.

Also supposedly Nelson the younger is going to contribute at DE. Tentatively more depth barring the usual injuries.

One key is special teams but apparently they are satisfied with Rastetter at P as tey haven't offered any one else yet. Kicker Recinos is the back up this year and they did manager to redshirt Mick Ellis.

I have a feeling Outsey is going to be really good, but I'm a shitty evaluator of talent.

It sounds like Michael Slater might be in the mix for some backup minutes at DT.

I think Snyder switched mostly for next year. May have more range than Lomax. I also think Jackson wins King's job if he leaves. Great experience this year.

If something happens regarding Iowa Football between January 2016 and September 2016, feel free to create a thread to discuss it. It may not be a thread with @douglasbader's name at top, but that will be okay.

Feels like Cox should be able to get another year to me, but he may have redshirted.

I think Welsh will end up being better than Walsh.

If Ott gets a shot to come back for a 6th season, dies Hesse play behind him or does he go to Meier's spot? I think Nelson will be really tough to keep off the field. Bower will be the "raider" guy I think along with Mends. If King stays, the defense is going to be really good.

And other than Croston, that line will be there for 2 more years.

I'm not sure either J. Smith or Falconer can play at T. Smiths level, but I think both of them end up being more dynamic than Hillyer, so hopefully we see improvement at WR next season.

Hillyer dropping that 3rd down pass last night still pisses me off.

I can't imagine how good CJ could be if we had a couple of elite WRs. He's thrown passes into some really tight windows all season.

Great home schedule and a ton of talent back.

Get your tix for Indy earlier next year, boyz and pay 78.00 like we did.

Which is why we are going to miss HKC. He can catch about anything, including his catch last night, and had a bunch of tough catches on third down this season.

True, but until this year he really did nothing as a receiver. Kittle will step up and hopefully Outsey steps into Kittles role. Vandeburg will also be back for 3rd downs. Just need a deep threat or 2. They will miss Hillyers blocking.

That is the easiest schedule we've ever had. It's breathtaking.

Just a 5th year for Ott. Probably the only way he'd get the year is the NCAA accepting an argument that the guy playing after the ISU game wasn't the "real" Ott.

I'd give it to him on a pity basis: The guy basically got to play 2 years, plus a useless 4 games in a lost cause season in 2012. On top of that, the NFL isn't likely to give him a good look unless he demonstrates that he's healthy. Maybe an O'Brien or Belichek would bring him into camp and then put him on IR for a year.

I hope they don't "ruin" Kittle by trying to make him into a 250 pound LOS guy. I want him in motion, in the slot and on the receiving end of a lot of balls. Whatever Indy did with Clark in his good years is what I hope for. They'll have other "dirty work" guys they can add to the mix when they go tailback-fullback.

Have I ever mentioned hating Derek Willies?

Hopefully they move Cook to TE in the spring, if not sooner. I think he could be a real weapon there.

Is "soon" all we know on the Ott decision?

Everyone totally knows a bunch more info because the NCAA is so forthcoming and predictable. You haven't heard all the additional info?

I was just curious if anyone knew how long this usually takes and had an educated guess when we'd hear something. Thanks for being a douche though.

Looking forward, Wiegers could be ok with a decent line. Boyle and Cook whoa, Iowa better be recruiting that position pretty hard.

How about because it's not the off-season yet?

I kind of hope they look at closing the door on Daniels getting meaningful snaps. He just doesn't have it. He's a fine back up and maybe short yardage back. That's it.
