Iowa has a chance to go 5-0 and beat those dirty fucks from Wisconsin and be ranked in the Top 25. Time to wash away the debacle of 2010 and get a win.

it's pretty cool to have Iowa playing a big game again without any blemishes. Wisconsin last year was big, but it followed a lot of shit.

Be interesting to see what the spread for this one will be, with the Hawks scoring twice as many points today as I expected them to.

We've beaten Chryst. There is no Gordon and Clement to account for. We get them in Madison for a change, which might be a good thing. I'm feeling rather confident with a bruising line-em-up slugfest with Wisconsin. Northwestern, on the other hand, as they zone-read it up the field right now against Ball State, always has me nervous. Their emasculating loss last year and Pat's special magic marker for Iowa only adds to that.

    But back to Bucky...

most anticipated Iowa game since that game in 2010? I know they pounded a top 5 Sparty team the next week but things were never the same once Wisconsin grabbed the drivers' seat for the Rose Bowl

I think either that game or possibly 2010 Ohio State as they still had a shot at a really good season until they lost that game.

Didn't last year Iowa control their destiny heading into the last two conference games of the season? That Wisconsin game felt like a big deal last November.

But we knew that the overall feel of that team was kind of shitty, and we knew the QB situation sucked, and that Iowa was just not a very good team.

It sort of was, but 2 weeks before they had been destroyed by Minnesota and had pissed away 2 other games. We all knew they weren't a good team.

This game is going to be so anticipated because it will confirm what sort of team this is going to be. Most of us still aren't sure what they really are yet but think they could be good.

I guess, but Wisconsin doesn't look like a world beater and even if Iowa loses, there are seven more games to make up ground on them. The anticipation is definitely there if only, as you say, to determine these guys' legitimacy.

I think it has more to do with Iowa's schedule, how they started the season, and the chance to be ranked again when it comes to anticipation. Wisconsin isn't a world beater and is likely mediocre this year, but as of now they are right up there with the strongest teams Iowa will play.

The other tough games on paper are @Northwestern and @Nebraska.

The other positive for this game is you get your best TE and a huge weapon for Beathard back in this game.

right, it was a bigger game on paper since it was later in the year and the stakes were clear, but it definitely was muted by the fact that we knew the team was going to have to punch above its weight

And how legitimately good is Wiscy's defense? Only 3 pts in last 3 games... even against bad competition that is impressive.

I'm going to keep our friend @castichawk24 in mind and take this one game at a time, but if Iowa can beat Wisconsin to get to 5-0, then they are getting to 6-0 the following week and sets up for a chance to get to 7-0 and ranked in the Top 15 against Northwestern going into a bye week with a terrible Maryland team at home after that.

Who knows, because as you said the competition the last 3 games at home has been awful. Miami OH and Troy are 2 of the worst teams in FBS and Hawaii is pretty mediocre as well.

Another positive about Iowa is even though they had a couple close games in the 4th quarter, neither of them were a fluke win. If anything, they were only that close due to some mistakes that gave the other team points to keep them in it or they didn't capitalize on a few drives earlier in the game.

Would feel a lot worse about this team right now if they had to win due to big comebacks or fluke plays against inferior competition like Minnesota has. The wins against Iowa State and Pitt could easily have been even more comfortable.

It is also nice they destroyed the crappy teams they played while other Big Ten teams are struggling to win against the crappy teams.

I forgot to add that it is also really nice to have a Top 3 starting QB in the league when the 2 above him are projected first round picks.

I feel as if I've seen this movie before.....oh well, here goes:

    Iowa 20
    Wisconsin 14

We hold them on a late drive to bring home the bull. Player of the game for the hawks will be the entire defensive line. Back on the train.

Back on the train - if we win. Although just from looking at the score and stats it looks like we rolled the Green pretty easily yesterday and may have the potential to be a DAMN fine team (not to go all douglas on you guys, but get past Wisconsin in Madison and this could be the....gulp... best year under KF yet [record wise]).

Ok, too much kool-aid, sitting down now.

I'll say it, the d-line needs to play better. They need more consistent pressure and were getting gashed pretty good on cutbacks.
