This game is the first real step to see how much Ferentz wants to keep his job. Going to be a pumped up RECORD SETTING SELLOUT!!!! at not so historic Jack Trice Stadium.

Correct. It would take him winning pretty much every game including Wisconsin and Nebraska to forgive an Iowa State loss again. Can't lose to the worst FBS program 3 years in a row and 4 out of 5 years.

Likely the true first must win for Ferentz in years. If he loses this, then it will get really ugly for him.

Crazy prices on the secondary market for tickets to the game. A lot of cy-fucks think they are going to make some bank for shitty tickets in their dumbfuck stadium.

This game is no benefit to Iowa whatsoever, never has been and won't be in the future.

I think it will benefit the internal momentum of the program (as fragile as it is right now), if Iowa can pull this off. The ISU wideouts are pretty darn good and will be a challenge to stop. I'd love to see Ott have another game like the last one and really create pressure on Richardson.

I agree with this of course, but this year feels like Ferentz and Iowa will be walking in playing to win the game instead of trying not to lose. I'm sick of watching them playing not to lose this game.

My inlaws just offered me a free ticket to this game. It's a 'parents' ticket down on the grassy hill thing, so I'd be standing the whole game with kids everywhere. Worse environment imaginable.

The turnover battle should be huge as well. Iowa was really solid with the ball (except for dipshit Wadley) and got unlucky on a couple of fumble recoveries and near interceptions.

Iowa State was pretty loose with the ball. Richardson was able to do whatever he wanted last year because he got no pressure due to Iowa having to play a lot more contain to protect the linebackers. Hopefully with Ott and Johnson playing really well they have Richardson scrambling a lot more.

I can't find a reason why Richardson can do this year what he did with his feet last year, knowing Roberson is the better athlete, but it's Iowa v ISU and nothing makes any sense.

This is the worst week of the year. Iowa State is a shit stain on the shorts of college football.

I don't wish anyone injured, but if Iowa won 73-0 and didn't take the foot off the gas and scored a TD as time expired and I had to watch little brainwashed Cyclone kids bawl their eyes out, I would gladly do it with a smile and flip off every single one of them as I walked away.

    Why the unusual starting time?

I will be at a charity golf outing and unable to watch... thankfully.

I hate this game and I don't even live in Iowa much less central Iowa. I feel for you poor bastards in the Metro.

    My take on ISU.

Richardson is a garbage D1 QB and I can't believe he beat us last year. Our LB play was pathetic.

    Their RB are garbage.

Their WR are actually pretty good, but so are King and Mabin.

Cotton-Moyà is good, but otherwise their defense is a trash unit that we should be able to gouge with inside runs and play action, but may need to use the latter to set up the former. Of course, I say that every year and usually am wildly and inconsolably disappointed. Not scoring 30 on these shitstains would be criminal.

Ankeny was a huge delight last night. I went to the store, out to eat, hit the hardware store for some 50:1. Not a DB in sight. No ketchup and mustard as far as the eye can see. Saturday at 3:30 will be excellent.

For once ISU is going to be coming into this game with some confidence. Usually they beat us after getting skullfucked by Weber State or some shit. Hopefully this works to our advantage. It almost certainly won't, of course.

Take them off the schedule and Iowa plays some other team of equal caliber. What benefit is that to Iowa? What benefit are any of the preseason games against crappy opponents?

I'd rather play less motivated dogshit opponents who just view it as another likely ass whipping among many. Like Iowa State does the rest of its schedule.

I agree that the benefit of winning may not equal the harm of losing, but to say the game is of no benefit doesn't make any sense.

There are several benefits to winning the game.

How can you be so completely wrong all the time? If you take Iowa State of the schedule, then you can schedule home and home games against programs like Virginia, NC State, North Carolina, Wake Forrest, Texas Tech, Baylor, Virginia Tech, Duke, Kansas State, Kansas, etc....

If you can't figure out the benefit to that, not sure how to help you.
