We playin' for keeps this time, boyz.
Might as well get on board.
LOL. That's a great gif.
cbs has us as a projected 12 seed after the augie loss.
In the big10 tournament?
Why's this game at 8:30? That's weird.
I've been listening to a lot of "people who know a lot about basketball" lately and they think a sound strategy is for the Hawks to suspend a top player each game to remove some of the pressure and in fact make it easier to win.
Hoping Fran has been listening to the same stuff.
Women play at 6 or something like that.
Wasn't the Hampton game last year at 8:30?
Not seeing this on my ESPN3 app.
"Your cable subscription package does not include access to this content"
Fuck you ESPN and Doug.
This is fucking stupid, why is it so fucking hard to watch Hawkeye Basketball?
It's on watchespn on my phone but not my Firestick
Much like Woodbury, Jok has topped out.
Me either. Doesn't sound like I'm missing much
Our guard play is pathetic. Get used to it, because it'll be that way for at least another year after this, if not longer.
You missed Woodbury brick a drunk.
They look better. Jok missed a couple shots then got gun shy.
This is not a good team. Clemmons sucks.
it's now available on the espn3 app (on firestick, at least)
dont quit your day gig
Uhl has shown why he needs to start instead of Clemmons. Hell, Ellingson looks like he would be better than Clemmons.
Clemons is looking like he did as a starter at the beginning of last year. Uthoff is a man and carrying this team. Gesell is fine. The freshmen have done some promising things.
It isn't pretty, but you can see the potential.
Looks like Jok just needed one to fall.
I am an Oracle...
Jok out, not putting any weight on his right leg
Jok with an ankle injury.
Uhl has ugly form on his jumpers. When he shoots the three it looks like he is starting with the ball at his chest before a really awkward release.
Any word on Jok?
Looked like Mrs McCaffery mouthed he's okay
i apologize to anyone who tuned in after reading this
Walked out in a boot.
Kakert tweeted that he was jogging in the tunnel
wagner has had some moments, at least.
Fran might strangle Uhl.
At least we didn't lose a home opener to a shitty team like Illinois and Wisconsin.
1 of 7 shooting
0 for 3 from 3P
1 High Ankle Sprain to Jok
Or Marquette or Arizona State or North Carolina State or Georgia.
Uthoff is the first Hawkeye with 20+ points & 5+ rebounds in a season opener since Adam Haluska in 2006-07.
6 points/8 boards in 9 minutes.
The Woodbury-Uthoff-Jok frontcourt looked like it will struggle to rebound. Another reason I think Uhl should start.
Loved Wagner's production tonight. That is exactly the role he can fill for a team lacking in physical players and strong rebounders.
Baer looked great coming in cold off the bench and knocking down a three in transition. He isn't lacking in confidence. He also seems to have a real nose for the ball. He's shown more so far than Jones, IMO. You worry about Baer's lack of bulk, but Jones wasn't exactly Reggie Evans out there.
That drive and dunk by Uhl was what the staff has been waiting for since he got to Iowa. With the handchecks being called tighter (for the time being, anyway) Uhl could be a real weapon going against opposing big men. I think there will be some growing pains with him, but that he will get more comfortable as his playing time increases.
Who would think Ellingson would be perfect from 2 and oh-fer from 3?
Might they still be considering a redshirt for Hutton? They put in Ukah before him.
My favorite part of the game was the ground breaking insight from the announcers. They mentioned that Uhl gained 20 pounds, then proceeded to explain that he did it by eating more and lifting weights. Compelling and rich.
Wagner is going to be fun to watch the next four years.
Wagner is a bad sumbitch. Would have had another rebound but someone from Iowa knocked it away from him. A couple of those offensive rebounds I didn't even know he was by the basket from where I was sitting and he flew in there and ripped the ball away from the GW guys.
I thought the ball movement was, at times, really good in the first half. Thought a few of the guys, namely Gesell, were a little tentative to take.
Wagner looks to have a nose for the ball and can mix it up on the glass.
Baer certainly doesn't lack confidence. He kinda reminds me of Koch from UNI.
Rush the Court has a college basketball survivor pool where you can only pick a team once from a pool of Big 10, Big 12, ACC, SEC and Pac-12. You get 3 strikes but if both of your teams lose, you're done. I took Georgia and ASU this week. Fuck.
