Can't wait to see that 14 man rotation!!!!
This isn't the republican debate thread.
It's probably going to be a it ugly again, but that's all part of the process. When Iowa plays at Marquette in a few weeks, we will probably see for the first time what this team looks like without White and a backup center. I think they'll be fine, but it will take a couple of months for any of the newcomers to play like they belong.
Basically, let's not freak out tomorrow night when some of the freshmen look lost again and there seems to be no flow or continuity with the lineups. At worst, once Iowa plays tough games, Fran can and will lean on his six guys who have played big minutes before. That's a luxury.
At least in the first exhibition, these games that don't count have been pretty much a tryout for the new guys. Agree that until the real season starts, while you might look at individual guys the end result and score aren't going to mean much (which with this many n00bs is the right approach).
Think I saw they are ranked #1 in Division II. I guess that puts them around 300 in DI...maybe? No idea how bball translates.
That would make me sad. Please be nicer from here on out. Thanks.
Dochterman picked Augustana to win.
Apparently Augustana's center was Woody's back up on their AAU team.
Man, @AZmess was really angry last night. I hope he didn't do anything destructive.
Tough match-up for Woody with Jansen, moves well and can shoot it decent.
Are they a tourney team?
Yes, Division ll
Can we shut down chat box?
At least it's still football season.
Gesell hasnt got any better
That is not an encouraging result.
Probably because of the terrible chat.
People tend to overreact, and maybe I'm doing it now, but I don't see the fix. I think this is going to be fairly indicative of what this team is.
14 pts. 7-17 9 assists
Jok 21 pts. 7-18
wtf is up with Dom? He played 2 minutes
Fran got pissed at him in the first, and he was gone after that.
No big deal. Augustana is a veteran team filled with players wanting to prove themselves to D1.
He took Woody to pound town per usual
They returned all 5 starters, averaged 87 ppg last year and won 31 games as well as 19 straight. Can't be to surprised with the result
I lay this squarely at the feet of Woodbury and Uthoff. They really didn't seem to give a fuck. They were perfectly fine with getting WORKED by a D2 team. I would expect more from a couple of seniors, but maybe that's just who they are.
I kept hoping that Baer, a freshman walk-on, would sub in for Uthoff or Woodbury. That should tell you a lot. At least Baer acts like he cares.
The (maybe) 6-1 Gesell scored at will inside. You're telling me a 7-1 guy and a 6-9 guy couldn't convert more????
The defensive effort was pathetic. I can't even count the wide open looks Augustana got. You'd think am Iowa team led by a group of very experienced seniors would want to demonstrate leadership, but it was nonexistent.
Apparently Baer was +13 and Uthoff was -11. That probably shouldn't happen.
I think I will be very, very wrong about this team. No RATT, they are bad and I also don't see much of a fix.
Fran coaches like he despises this team and they play like they are already tired and don't want to be there.
Uthoff looks awful. Terrible. He looks slow and heavy and isn't good on the post. They should cut the 15 pounds he gained and put him back at the SF.
I can't stop laughing at Woodbury pounding his chest after getting the loose ball late in the game. Can't wait until that guy is gone.
If this is what I think you posted, how about those sour grapes...
I don't think individual +/- for a particular game is all that telling, but damn.
They'll win by 25 next Friday when it counts.
That isn't even the most telling stat on the sheet. What is horrifying moving forward is that they shot 5 free throws against a D2 team when the refs were calling fouls very tight.
They are completely fucked if they don't fix that.
Not real encouraging, but I'm confident that if Iowa's primary goal was to win this game, they would have won.
I have a feeling ol' Hamo might be correct about a board implosion if we lose in football one of the next several weeks... Yikes.
You sure about that? Look at the minute distribution.
