I don't think he's soft; I think he's ineffective against good defenses.
Sure, Barry Sanders was ineffective against very good defenses too. I wouldn't consider a defense good if Joe Blow Iowa running back got 200 yards against them.
When you lack weapons in a tough game against a team like Wisconsin, MSU, hopefully Michigan etc., he's a bad choice, IMO. Much better off featuring a Canzeri or Wadley type.
Exactly. Wadley's TD would not have been so with Daniels in. It would have been a Weismanesque 5-6 yard carry, but obviously the potential for something greater was there.
Lol great comparison, I'm sure Barry Sanders would have been stifled by NDSU
Based on what? I don't think he was 100% last year and the sample size was pretty small. He got 4 carries versus WI, 5 carries versus NE, 8 carries versus MSU, and 10 carries versus Stanford where he had the same YPC (3.7) as Wadley. I'm not saying he should get more touches than Wadley, but I'm not sure either back is going to torch good defenses if the OL doesn't give them more help.
I do agree that our lack of playmakers at WR means that safeties are going to cheat and a more elusive back is needed. Still, I think the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. I'm not sure Wadley would survive if he was asked to carry it 20-25x per game.
But the usage has been fairly stupid. Screens, draws, wheel routes, etc., should be all Wadley.
These are those "tendencies" that people bitch about.
We are weak up the middle. Rutgers would spread the outlaw wide into coverage and run right at Bowers. Bowers tackles way to high and give up yards after contact. The outlaw played on guts alone the last goal line stand. King is really good but teams are gonna make him tackle. Can't throw his way. Daniels got blown up on blitz pickup a lot. Rutgers was fun however. The vast majority of people were very nice, especially when you bond over your hatred of Penn State.
King is probably the best tackling corner in college football?
He's gonna have to be.
Had an Uber driver who bragged to us about a "Joe Knew" t-shirt that he's worn to places where PSU fans congregate.
Had a number of Rutgers fans bring up their Penn State hatred before and after the game. What's that all about?
Assistant coach Jerry Sandusky molested multiple children over the course of many years, going as far as using his charity to select his victims. Joe Paterno, Penn State's longtime coach, allowed access to minors to Sandusky, even after being informed of Sandusky's crimes.
I get that but have the impression that the hatred preceded these events. Could be wrong though.
Have you seen this?
I wish this fit on a T-shirt.
I'm guessing their proximity to the cesspool has something to do with it.
I can't imagine the pretentiousness of Penn State and their fans is tolerated by many out there. They are like Notre Dame and not too many midwestern fans of other schools like those assholes.
It a certainty that the Rutgers coach talked to the ref at halftime and told him the chop blocks were illegal. He also coached his lineman to act like it was worse that it was. The lineman acted like Ike shot him in the leg.
Agree except "all." That sounds too much like end arounds should all be Chaney. A little too predictable.
Has Kirk been fined yet for speaking up?
