They should have been doing it last week. Is there some way we can pay off Vegas to make sure we're never double digit favorites again?

Wadley should be all wound up on Saturday after not getting the ball last week and going back home to play the state school that didn't offer him. Could be fun to watch if they'll give him the damn ball.

I'm calling b*******. I'm guessing he popped off to one of the coaches after dropping the pass the other day and that's why he didn't play any more

Desmond doesn't strike me as much of a that's football cat. I imagine Kirk neither missed or appreciated his outrage.

As Camel said, Kirk is talking about the team staying on the field so they run more plays and Wadley gets more of a chance he's not saying that Wadley is not holding on to the ball.

The question was specifically about Wadley. Who knows what the fuck he means but sounds like Wadley is in the dog house.

JFC...how does it sound like he's in the dog house? Some of you are borderline stupid.

It was a total team loss from the coaches on down to the players. We're not especially flexible when it comes to personnel and our game plan isn't exactly geared towards taking what the opponent gives us. We are what we are, but we didn't execute either, so there's that. The difference between Iowa and elite teams isn't always talent but a competitive mentality IMO.

Yes and he answered it by talking about how few snaps they had which limits everyone's touches. Moving the ball, sustain drives, hang on to the ball. Same thing. This is TOS level overraction.

This. They rotated the shit out of the backs the first 2 games. Each would go in for a couple plays then come out. They were never on the field long enough to rotate them like they want to.

That comment is a little irritating, why not blame yourself for not giving Wadley enough touches. Maybe if you didn't start every series with Daniels you might give your team a better shot of staying on the field.

This is ridiculous, but that answer gave me flashbacks to a couple years ago. Any question about Beathard ended up with Rudock in the answer just to remind everyone who's getting the snaps. Seemed like a similar format there.

it would be telling to know from those present today if Kirks tone was similar to what we heard a couple years ago. I doubt it, and hope not

From Morehouse this morning. Hopefully it puts to bed any of the Wadley/doghouse bullshit. But knowing this place, I doubt it.

"You’ve counted the carries junior running back Akrum Wadley had against NDSU. It was four, with the last one coming midway through the third quarter.

You’re wondering why so few. And that’s OK, you should. Ferentz pointed to the Hawkeyes’ lack of sustained drives that simply led to fewer touches for everyone. The Hawkeyes ran just 49 plays against NDSU. It was just the third time in the last eight-plus seasons Iowa was held to less than 50 plays (44 in a win at Nebraska last season and 49 in a loss at Minnesota in 2010).

“In a perfect world, we’re going to be moving ball a little bit better and sustaining some drives,” Ferentz said. “Third down, certainly we’ve got to do a better job there.”

Wadley has been nursing a bruised knee the last two games. He said Tuesday he’s feeling much better, but did admit that senior LeShun Daniels was “much healthier than me” last week.

For the “Ferentz doghouse” theorists, this isn’t that. Yes, Wadley had a drop near the end of the first half. So did wide receiver Jerminic Smith and he remained in the game. Against Iowa State, VandeBerg dropped a pass. He caught three passes and two TDs last week. Players don’t get benched for dropped passes. Fumbles? Wadley hasn’t had one in more than a year, 105 carries to be exact.

This was the work of a bruised knee and a condensed playbook in a tight game."

Kirk is perfectly capable of shitty personnel decisions concerning players outside of his doghouse.

The same could be said for GDGD and Coin Flip Kirk, unfortunately.

Basically, some people would have us take comfort in the following message:

"The better back didn't play much because we wanted to wait to put him in until after the worse back tired out on drives, but unfortunately we weren't able to sustain drives with the worse back so that didn't happen".

Apparently because it's much better than "Akrum has some things to clean up in practice". Or something.

Basketball is much more likely to yield those types of upsets. The Augustana game was annoying, but it also didn't count.

And don't worry...I could correctly use 'obtuse' in a sentence long before that overrated movie was produced.

Lol, what a terrible comparison. Dig in those heels AZ. You seem to take any discussion about team weaknesses very personally. I still think we win the west but I like to discuss what I watched on Saturday instead of saying everything is fine and that FCS team is really really good.

Nope. Not sure why that matters or even makes any sense though so good job.

As much as I want to dwell on this past Saturday's warning signs of a reversion to the dark years of the KF era, I'm going to give him the game this week before I freak out.

Where? The 'hang on to the ball' thing? In the context of the rest of the comments, that was clearly a reference to sustaining drives not any fumbling issues.

Kirk said the reason Wadley didn't play more (and more than Daniels) was not physical/injury related, which leaves only one other possibility. That it was what the coaching staff wanted and felt gave them the best chance to win, wrongly IMO.
